~Farmhouse Fresh~

It's Farmhouse Friday again and it's all about apples today.  Whether you're using them for decorating, baking or just plain eating them, I know they are one of my family's favorite fruit this time of year.  Enjoy!  xoxo K.

My husband and our two girls and I took a little break last week and went up to Seattle for a couple days.  We stayed downtown and of coarse my favorite thing was to visit the Pike Place Market where I got this lovely bouquet. Their flowers are so amazing and very inexpensive.  Let's just say that if I lived close by I would be visiting often!!!
I love the pop of green from the apples mixed with my brown and white transferware dishes.
Who says apples have to be kept in the refrigerator?  I like to keep mine out to admire in either this wooden bowl or the enamel colander that sits on the counter. These dahlias are also from Pike Place Market in my favorite color....white!
I got the recipe for this apple dip from my sister-in-law years ago and it is one of my kids' favorites.  It's super easy with only three ingredients: 1 pkg.(8oz) cream cheese, 1/2 cup packed brown sugar and 1 tsp. vanilla.  Mix it all together, cut up some apples and enjoy!
It is beginning to feel like Fall around here after an unusually warm and dry Summer.  The forecast is calling for rain and I'm hoping they are right. As much as I love sunny weather, we really need it to help stop some of the many fires in the PNW.

Have a wonderful weekend!

  4. Love your kitchen/dining room. It makes me want to do a remodel on my 109 year old kitchen. I did one about 15 years ago but the mood to change is back. Love those cabinets.

Beautifully decorated. Love flowers and the apples, the dip sounds so good.

  9. We enjoyed Pikes Place too early this year. I also admired all the fresh flowers! Were there any buskers (street entertainers) when you were there? A fun place. And while I don't care for Granny Smith apples to eat - they sure make a pretty picture. Nice job w/ this post!

  10. Last weekend was so smokey here in Oregon City due to all the fires. It made the sun setting look like a big red ball. I hope one day to get up to see Seattle. My friend a I have been trying to plan a trip but health problems set our plans on hold for a while! I have heard about Pikes Place.
