~Decorating with Pinecones~

Decorating with items from nature helps to add texture to my  neutral home and pinecones are one of those items that I like to add this time of year.  Enjoy! xoxo K.
There are many different sizes and shapes.  One of my favorites is this kind that reminds me of a rose.  I've had these for many years from a tree across the street from my sister's former house.
This corner hutch in my dining room is filled with ironstone and the combination of pinecones and eucalyptus is a nice addition.
Large sugar pines are great to sit in an urn which gives it a topiary look in the kitchen.
I've always loved the look of them mixed in with  brown transferware and once the greens are removed after Christmas, I like to leave the pincones in this cupboard to enjoy until Spring.
Ironstone tureens are also filled sitting next to the window seat.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.

  1. Hi Kathleen, love your corner hutch and your white ironstone! It looks so natural with all the pinecones... the one that looks like a rose is so lovely. I`ve never seen one like this before. Have a wonderful weekend too ♥ xoxo, Alexandra

  2. Love your pine cone decorating. I too love to use them, I didn't know what to do with all the large ones which I'd I'd collected on my walks, I just through them into a basket & left them in the hallway till I could find somewhere to show them off. They are still there, as when friends arrive they always admire them saying what a warm welcome they make. So enjoy your pine cones wherever you display them.

  3. Hi, I found you through Simple Pleasures - and I have to say - I am dying over your "water pitcher" with brown transfer ware - never seen one before. I am going back "in" now to look around your blog and your home - this is like the best "peeping Tom" experience - haha!

Thanks for sharing such a beautiful home,
    Big hug

  8. The pinecones look lovely! I love them also, but the last two years, the squirrels have gotten to them before they even fall. There used to be hundreds! Take care and have a wonderful weekend!

  10. I also like to decorate with pine cones. Where ever I go, I pick up pinecones and use them to decorate from fall through winter. I think it is especially appropriate for my home because I live in "Pineville," where pine trees abound.
