~Pansies~

I hope everyone is enjoying their week so far.  After I picked my daughter up from school yesterday, we went to our local nursery to buy  some annuals for the pots on my porch and patio.  I'm like a kid in a candy store and love picking out what I'm going to plant each year.

Pansies are what I have planted in pots during Fall and Winter and these will be replaced with my new blooms, so I decided to take some photos of them before they are gone.  It kept looking like it might rain this afternoon so I decided to bring this pot inside by this bright window in my bedroom to share with you.  Enjoy! xoxo K.

I've been trying to shoot manually lately and have been messing around with metering.  I wish photography came easier to me because I love the display part of it, but it can be so frustrating at times and still can't seem to get my lighting right.  I guess I'm learning as I go and realized after I posted my last post that my white balance was wrong leaving those photos yellowish instead of white like they actually should have been.  Not really sure why I didn't notice before I published, but was rushed for time.  Maybe someday it will click and my photos will turn out like I want them to.

  9. I struggle with photos also but I think yours are very nice-I sure didn't notice any yellowing. Love that little vignette you set and putting the flowers in it was perfect.

  10. What a sweet vignette with your pretty white pansies! I love that table. Playing with camera settings is not my forte at all. I'm still a point and shoot gal but sometimes I actually shoot in the 'snow' mode indoors and it gives me the light I need. The pics in my post today were done in that mode as the lighting was so dim that day. Happy May Day to you. Pamela

  11. I always love your pictures, and never notice anything wrong with them at all! I have wanted to learn more about my camera, different ways to take the photos, etc. My biggest issue is "time". I'm always in such a rush to get everything done, I never have the time to play with my camera!

Have a good week my friend,
    Sue

  18. A peaceful, serene vignette! Isn't it sad this time of year for the pansies? As I walked this morning, several houses had pulled the pansies up and put them on the curb for waste pick-up. It is time for the more heat-resistant blooms to be planted, but so harsh for the pansies.

  20. I promise I was looking at the flowers, but the rest of your home just leaves me speechless. So gorgeous, Kathleen!!!

Don't sell yourself short, you are a wonderful photographer, girl. But I will suggest a book that cleared it all up for me. Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. It's the best resource out there for those shooting in Manual.

    Happy Weekend!

  27. Rainy day here so had a second to stop by and see your wonderful photos. I think your lighting it perfect and thought that before I read your text. Not yellowy at all. It's much better to have a little warmth to the photos. In my last post I even added a brownish filter to warm things up where before I was doing the opposite. Tastes change.
I am so glad to here you had a great show...you should your wares are wonderful and makes me want everything. Gosh I miss blogging!

    Ok back to planting!
    hugs
