I'm posting tonight about my love for chalkboards, especially ones made from used items. When Donna at Funky Junk announced she is doing a "chalkboard crazy" theme tonight for SNS, I knew I wanted to share one I've made from an old cabinet door.
I've been working on items for my upcoming show, Junk Salvation and will have a couple of these for sale there. It is coming up fast and I added a coupon at the end of this post for $1 off admission on Saturday. The show is Friday, February 1st 6-9 and Saturday, February 2nd 10-4. If you are in the area you don't want to miss this one!
I mentioned in a previous post that I had moved my french bottle rack into the dining room. One of my chalkboards propped behind it makes a nice vignette. I had wine on my mind since I made pizza for dinner. Enjoy! xoxo

I added some jute to the hinge on this old cabinet door and tied some chalk on the end for easy access. I decided to add a couple of my tulips from my kitchen post to one of my petite french bottles since as you can see they have opened up and are almost done.
Another thing I wanted to share with you is this lovely chair that I bought last week at, of all places, Costco. I decided to walk down the sofa isle, since I really want new furniture in my living room and am so glad I did because I spotted this beauty and for cheaper than I've seen this kind of chair anywhere else:)
Make sure you print this coupon if you are heading to the Junk Salvation show and I will also post it on my sidebar and Facebook page as well.

O, I so wish I lived close I would so attend the Junk salvation event :)
Chalkboards are a weakness of mine, and I love yours. It looks especially nice in the vignette you've created with your new chair and bottle rack. Very Nice and beautifully photographed!
ReplyDeleteGreat chalkboard and I love that a bottle drying rack! I really wish I was going to be at Junk Salvation! I keep telling Dixie that one of these years I will make the cross country trip (unless they come closer) and get to a show. Happy Sales! Hugs, Leena
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE seeing every single picture you posted. I sit here at my computer and just stare at all the eye candy. It's nice to see you blogging again. It's kind of funny, I just started to try and get back into the routine of blogging again as well. Have a great show my friend!
ReplyDeleteTake care,
Sue
Hi Kathleen,
ReplyDeleteI love your chalkboard, and especially the vignette you did in front of it with the vintage bottle holder!! I have been wanting one of those forever!
My hubby and I are going to be doing a large chalkboard project soon for our dining room. I can't wait.
Wish I lived closer so I could attend your show, have fun!!
Sincerely,
Melinda
I like the idea of using an old door. I would love to do my pantry door as a chalkboard, but I don't know what will occur when I am over the chalkboard phase and want to paint it. Instead, I am going to paint an old mirror tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteLove all of your photos.
Can't ever get enough of chalkboards! Love the added twine and chalk. A beautiful vignette!

her bir kare çok hoş.evinizi çok beğeniyorum sevgiler:)
ReplyDeleteSince it's been easier to buy blackboard paint you can turn anything into a blackboard. I could do with a notice board, blackboard combo in my workroom. I need to keep a look out for something suitable.
ReplyDeleteLove the chair too.
Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteHi Kathleen. I love the chalkboard and the old screen door in front of it. The chair is beautiful. I've never seen something like that at our Costco before. I wish I could go to your big sale. It would be so much fun. Hugs, Pamela

ReplyDeleteXOXO,
Anne
just found your blog- and love your design style and re-dos! (So clever to tie the chalk to the board- i'm always losing mine) I'd love to go the the Vintage Market but I'm on the other side of the country :(
ReplyDeleteI love chalk boards! Just changed the message on my chalk board today! " If you happy and you know it clap you hands" Makes me wanna clap every time I see it! hahahahahaha!

I'm a teacher that (when I work as a teacher) gets the chance to write all kinds of smart things on the board. Plastic board. With a marker. I miss the chalk. It made my hands dry, but I miss the plain board and chalk. I think I'll find one for my home, too. Lovely post. :-)
