~Wisteria~

I wanted to share a few photos of my wisteria in bloom since we are still being blessed with warm sunny weather for a couple more days before the rains come back.

I planted it on either side of my porch six years ago and it has finally grown large enough to cover the front area of our porch which provides nice shade in the Summer, but this is the first time it has ever bloomed.  I was so excited when it was first showing signs and even though there are probably only twenty blooms, they are so gorgeous.  Sometimes things are worth the wait and this was one of those times.  Enjoy!  xoxo K.

  1. It is beautiful; the smell would be so enchanting! I have just planted one outside my back door it's a Pink one; I can't wait for it to get that big! I love Wisteria’s they are so beautiful! My Parents had one at their old home; growing over their pergola and I use to wait for it to flower every year! It was beautiful and the perfume was delightful.

  2. Thank you for sharing this. We had wisteria over our whole fence when I was growing up. I've enjoyed this visual walk down memory lane.

  6. I so....want Wisteria to clamber up my new pergola on the deck! Do you ever have bee issues? My hubby keeps telling me it would be an issue....but I still want it!

  10. Love your wisteria and the shots of your porch in the background! I've been into gardening both outside and inside this Spring. And I'm loving it. Need to head out to CR! It's the week-end, and it is always a crazy time for me ;0)

    Take care,

  11. How beautiful, and what a thrill having it bloom finally for you!

Do you feed it with fertilizer? I bought some new in early spring - made for flowering plants, bushes, trees and shrubs and I am noticing a big difference already.

Does wisteria tend to grow better in sun or shade? I never had one but sure love how it looks! Is it a very fast growing plant?

  13. Gorgeous!! I've seen a few sold at greenhouses in MN, but they are quite expensive and aren't guaranteed to survive our winters. You've got the perfect place to enjoy their beautiful blossoms!

  14. I have a wisteria I planted probably 15 years ago and it has never had one cluster of blooms. My neighbor has one and it blooms every spring and it is always covered in blooms. Does anyone have an idea why mine has never bloomed???

  15. My husband overpruned our Wisteria this year so it doesn't have very many blooms. Next year hopefully it will be back to normal! I so enjoyed seeing yours. TFS

  17. I love wisteria! I had a huge one at my last house but hubby made me plant it in the middle of the yard because it can be so invasive. It was fine because I could see it right out my kitchen window. I miss it!

  21. I visit your blog often and today I see you have featured your Wisteria...
it is lovely. Congratulations on your first bloom. They are so beautiful..we look forward to ours blooming every year. It is always topic of conversation the day we start seeing the tiny colorful blooms...then magic happens and it is a sea of gorgeous shades of purple. Ours also bloomed early "April" because of the warm weather. Lasting only a brief time because of high winds...we now have a vast amount of green...lacking the once bountiful color. Enjoy yours now....if you have a chance visit my post on April 16 of this year. I also could not pass up the opportunity to share the beauty of the Wisteria! Best Wishes, Bobbie
