I think I'm finally finished with my Living Room makeover. My husband thinks I should leave the same things in every room forever......that's what he would do. Every time I asked him to help me hang something, all he would say is "didn't we just put this up?" Yeah, six years ago, I would reply. I love changing it up and my style seems to change quite often....I'm obsessed with so many things.
When looking back at these photos, the words that come to mind are "rustic elegance" with lots of chippy architectural pieces mixed in with mirrors, glass and chandeliers. I'm not so thrilled with my furniture in this room. It's more practical than anything. I love the white slipcovered look in other people's homes, but it would honestly drive me crazy. Maybe when my kids are grown, but for now brown is a great color for my family. Next stop.....the kitchen. Enjoy! xoxo, K.
I decided this new shelf was too busy, so I simplified it with just a few items.
I'm linking at Common Ground for VIF tonight. Thanks for being such a gracious hostess every week Debra.
Your home does not look like "kids" live there...truly...too neat looking for "youngin's" running around in it, or teenagers leaving things all over the place.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty home.
Really like your lighting and wood floors.
Rose
Everything is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt looks so lovely Kathleen! You have such an artistic eye with furniture and accessory placement! I love my slipcovered white furniture...but it does drive me crazy! I am pretty much constantly washing those slipcovers and thinking of how much easier my life would be with brown upholstery!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
Best Wishes and Blessings,
Amanda
Your living room looks wonderful. I especially like the stacked benches by the stairs!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhh I HEART your big cherbus in front of the fireplace!!!!! Everything looks lovely! I know what you mean about all white, I have to have some color in there too but I think all white looks lovely in other people's homes:)

ReplyDeleteYour living room makeover is gorgeous, I've also been a little frightened by the white slipcover look although I love it, so my sofa is vintage and falling to pieces :-) I absolutely adore your hall table/stand against the stairs - just divine!

Hey Kathleen,
ReplyDeleteYou did good, it looks wonderful. I have to say that my fav is the stacked benches with the architectural elements (be still my heart)!
Let me tell you about white couches... I don't care what anyone says, they are hard to keep clean, and I don't have little ones around except for my grandson on weekends.
I had to laugh when you mentioned your husband...mine is the same way. In fact yesterday (while he was at work), my son was off and he helped me move cupboards, electronic and hang shelves. I'm lovin it, but I still need to 'fluff'!
Have a wonderful weekend..hope you have good weather...it's hot here!
Blessings,
Susie

ReplyDeleteSo stunningly lovely! There isn't one thing that isn't gorgeous! I adore that round table, but also love so many other elements!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great eye for beauty you have! And I love the contrast with the beige...I'm slowly starting to go from earth tones in my home to an eclectic mix that will wind up being simple rustic elegance.
Thanks so much for sharing, and for how you inspire me!! :o)
Have a joyful weekend!!
Becky
Wow!! Everything looks wonderful; something you would see in a magazine!! I too like to change things up a bit, as it helps to "freshen" up the look of your home :)
ReplyDeleteWarmest hugs, Brenda
You have such a beautiful home! I love the living room decor and think it has enough white and the browns warm it up. I really like the paint colour on the walls. Could you share what it is please? Is it quite sagey or more blue? I am planning on painting our interior and that colour really interests me. I also love the double benches next to the stair well. Beautiful! Have a great weekend. Pamela

AS usual, I'm always just a little late catching up with everyone. I guess "the store" takes a bit of energy out of me but in a good way. Love the makeover, and am totally in love with your coffee table and the two stacked benches as shelves. Like you, I can never pass up a chippy, old architectural piece. They always call my name!

ReplyDeleteI love your brown furniture! I know everybody says white slip covers are easy to care for....just throw them in the wash...but honestly, I have enough laundry as it is! I don't want to have to wash my furniture too! :) Your white accents are beautiful and just enough white to the room. Love it!!
