I couldn't wait to share this wonderful primitive cupboard I recently purchased. It is white, chippy and aged to perfection, not to mention it weighs a ton. They just don't make these like they used to. So the story behind this cupboard is......every once in a while I'll get on Craigslist in hopes of finding a primitive cupboard and usually don't have any luck or they are asking too much. This particular day I find one that is amazing and in my price range so I email to see if they still have it. Wouldn't you know that when she replies it's actually someone I know......the ever so talented Natalie from Sparrow. This cupboard is perfect and I love that it came from someone I know and she told me they brought it back from Texas. So now I can say I own a piece of history all the way from good ole Texas and I didn't even have to go to Marburger to get it(even though I'd love that opportunity some day).
I really couldn't wait to share this beauty with you, so I didn't even have time to fill all the shelves yet. Here are a few shots of some things I just put together this afternoon and when time allows I'm going to go through my ironstone stash and fill her up. I might put some brown transferware also. I'm up for suggestions.....what would you fill this cupboard with? Enjoy! xoxo K.
This is an oldie....true beadboard and old hardware.
This is a shot taken through a mirror on the opposite wall.
fab cupboard- I would have never thought to look at Craigsist for it! wow- the transferware would be cool or maybe old bottles with cool labels.

I too have a primitive beadboard cupboard that I just adore... had so have our huge Samoan Friend deliver it, he was the only one buff enough to maneuver an old heavy piece thru the maze of this ole' house into the dining area! *smiles*

LOVE that cupboard,
ReplyDeleteKathleen! Really,
anything from white
and silver to.....dare
I say it....colorful,
like Fiesta Ware, would
look great piled up in
that beauty. I could
also see some great black
and white images in little
frames mixed in. Have
a blast with it!
xx Suzanne
PS: I visited your booth
at Monticello over X-mas
before I got the flu. If
I lived there I totally
would have bought the giant
metal letters that spell out
JOY. What a fun place; I
plan to visit again, this summer,
or earlier, if I make it out
before July....
A serendipitous encounter for you ... sounds to me like you were meant to have that cupboard! Its perfect, isn't it? I think ironstone and your transferware collections would be perfect in it. How about the idea of adding in some old silver pieces for juxtaposition?

Beautifully chippy, great wire. This cupboard would make a great little bar the way the shelf sticks out further than the rest and that short little shelf in the back. How fun that it's previous owner was someone you knew. Small world or is it that blogging is making our world bigger? I love it when stuff has a little fun story to go with.
