Since it's Vintage Inspiration Friday over at Debra's today, I thought I'd share with you what I have in mind for some changes in my living room. I'd like this room to have a very neutral background with some bits of natural elements thrown in here and there and lots of texture. I've been working on it a little, but still have some areas that need work.
These are some photos of where I got my inspiration out of Flea Market Style- Summer 2010 magazine. Her name is Jocie Sinauer and I love the style she created in her 1904 farmhouse.
Here are a couple shots of an area in my living room where I've taken two benches and stacked them one on top of another to make a shelf. This is an area on this shelf that shows the feel I'm going for. What do you think?
I'll be happy to share the whole room with you when everything is finished and am hoping by posting bits and pieces of my projects it will keep me motivated to get them done. Also, be sure to stop in for WW this week where I'll be sharing a wonderful old beadboard cupboard I just purchased.

I really like it! The neutral colors, textures, vintage pieces, bits from nature...I think you have hit a home run! I saw a living room in Country Living (I think) a while back that had several large football benches stacked up to form a sturdy book case. I loved the look! Super post :D

ReplyDeleteKathleen, can't wait to see the BeadBoard Cupboard on Wed. The feel you're going for is very nice. Love all the inspiration photos and what you've done so far. The muted whites and browns look great together, and give such a wonderful patina to everything, playing off the antique feel of the room. Well done. Have a wonderful weekend, tami
ReplyDeleteVery cool...chic!

Well I just love this look and all the elements. The colors work for me of course, but the twigs, coral, and architectural pieces make it so beautiful and interesting!
ReplyDeleteThis looks so wonderful, I love the picture with the fireplace and all those white jars!

A Grand Beginning!
ReplyDeleteNature and Neutrals- wedded bliss as we are all learning. A very easy style to live with and nest in. I have been white and neutral for over 20 years now and never tire of it.
Gone is my rust period- UGH , though I just heard it is returning.
Pink and blue- what was I thinking?
Plum and green- no explanation at all except it started with the names of all my favorite wines stenciled around the kitchen. All were short lived because they never gave me that completed feeling...then I bought one old chipped cabinet. The rest is history.

Hi Kathleen,
ReplyDeleteI love the new displays. I love the combination of textures and different vintage items. My favorite part is how you incorporated bits of gold into it all. You're doing a great job and I look forward to seeing the rest. Have a great weekend!
