~Love Affair with Transferware~

To say I have a few collections would be an understatement. Today I'm going to share with you one of my many favorite collections~ Brown Transferware. Most of what I have is displayed throughout my kitchen and breakfast nook area. I do have some that I use for special occasions, but of course you can never have enough! Is it just me or does it seem to be getting harder to find and way more expensive?
These are two areas on my kitchen countertop.
I have quite a few pieces in this corner cupboard in my kitchen.
This plate is sitting on a shelf in my breakfast area.

~Double Stack~

Here is a great idea I wanted to share with you. This is an area in my Living room on the stairway wall that I have stacked two similar benches in different sizes and made a shelf out of them. Everyone always comments on it when they come to the house. It is a great space for placing architectural pieces, books, paintings, statues etc... especially if you are looking for a shelf or book case and can't find one. Maybe you have two benches sitting around that you aren't using that would be perfect. Enjoy your day!

~Front Porch Musing~

It was almost 60 degrees today at my house(which in March is a heat wave for us). I actually had a day with nothing going on and could stay at home all day long which unfortunately doesn't happen very often anymore. I spent some time outside and got some things cut back that should have happened last Fall, but I didn't get around to it. After I was done I took a few minutes to sit in the sun on my front porch and soak it all in. I'm really getting in the mood for gardening and flowers. I thought I'd share a few pictures of what my porch looked like last Summer and will hopefully look like again very soon. Enjoy!

Look What I Found

This past Saturday my oldest daughter and I had a "Girls Day". We went up to the Portland Expo Antique show and after that stopped by my favorite Antique Mall, Monticello's. I had a little "fun" money stashed up and thought I would show you some of my goodies. It was fun to see quite a few gals I have met through junking up there also. I love the wooden shutters that are made into a screen. That lady was getting rid of things. She even sold me her display ivy which I had been wanting to get for on top of a cupboard I have. The metal garden stand has just the right amount of rust. I found three vintage landscape paintings, a great brown box with little drawers, a great metal magazine rack, vintage clock, tin piece, metal round candleholder, leaded glass insert(which I have another just like it, but smaller), a nice piece of coral and a cute wire lampshade. I'll show what I did with the lampshade and all the other stuff is going to be distributed around my house. Make sure you check back to see what I did with all of it. Enjoy your day. It's actually sunny here today. Yeah!

Is it Spring Yet?

Okay, here is my first attempt at blogging. I have wanted to start one for a while now and have finally gotten around to it. Bear with me since I'm a newbie at all this blogging stuff. I have been looking at some great blogs for a while now and they have given me tons of inspiration. I especially love the ones that feature their homes and gardens. My hope for this blog is to show you what I have accomplished with my own home and garden. I feel it's an excellent way to get ideas. I have been recently painting and redecorating some rooms in my house and will show you when they are finished.

Here are some pictures of what I saw at my house this evening, even though it is March. I don't know about you, but I can't wait until it gets warmer. The first one is now and the second one is the same area last summer. Something to look forward to. Enjoy!
