~Our Home***Part 2~

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We took a family vacation over to The Wildlife Safari, visited with a guy my husband went to college with who lived nearby and then drove over to the Oregon coast. The weather was beautiful on Sunday and we just took out time driving home along Hwy 101 all the way down the coastline. Very pretty scenery.

I want to continue with our home tour which I started a while back and you can view here. Today I'm going to feature my kitchen and on Friday I will show you the breakfast area which is connected. We didn't have quite enough room to have an island, but I use an old table in the middle and since we have a smaller table and chairs in the breakfast area didn't feel we needed the extra seating anyway. Our cupboards are bead board painted a creamy white and our counters are made from wood. I love my large old fashioned sink. We moved our white appliances from our other house since they were fairly new at the time, but I would really like to get stainless steel appliances someday. I'll add that to my wish list(haha). There is plenty of room for my white pitcher collection above my cupboards and I like to have old ironstone and brown transferware here and there for decorations. Enjoy! xoxo K.

  6. Hey Kathleen...I love what you have done in the kitchen. Just wondering about how you did the wood countertops? In my old house, we just glued 6" pine boards on top of the formica. My current home has the ugliest formica and I can't wait to do something to them. Your pics have inspired me to try to get something started. I love the beadboard cabinets also. Great job!!

I've been pushing for wood on everything but the island (That will be zinc) And now I can show your kitchen pictures to my husband and my cabinet maker...They both think I'm nuts for wanting wood! I also like the white on white appliances they kind of blend in to your gorgeous cabinets. blessings to you...dj

  19. Buonasera Kathleen, love the mix of white and rustique. Every piece is my favorite but extra delizioso is the sink and the small rustique top table in the middle of the kitchen. I am working on my "white wednesday" and I think I will do the workshop. Ciao Rita

  21. Hi Kathleen,
Love your kitchen, I have a white classic kitchen too. Do you cut or chop on your wood countertops? There is a constant debate at my house about that (my hubby says no, but I use them as chopping surfaces anyway. When he starts cooking me meals, then he can do it his way.!!!)
Anyway, I like your space, seems very efficient, warm and really pretty. Love your collection on top of the cabinets.
You might enjoy seeing the pictures of my kitchen redo which I posted last week.
Looking forward to this week's White Wed. See you again soon!
