I've wanted to share some photos and tell you a little bit about our home since I started blogging. Things are in somewhat of an order right now and I'd like to show you a several rooms in my house over the next couple months. We have lived on the property for 14 years. When we first got married we were lucky to be able to purchase 7 acres of land. That was the good news. The bad news was it had an older mobile home that needed some TLC and lots of junk(and I don't mean the good kind) all over the property. We knew it had a lot of potential and with a lot of hard work we have transformed it into the visions we once saw. We lived in the mobile home for 8 years and then were able to build our dream home. I've always wanted to live in an old house, but we compromised and built a new house to look old.
It's hard to believe, but after 6 years I've already done a lot of redecorating and have painted almost every room another color. I guess that's what I love about decorating, it can be a revolving door and always changing. Enjoy! xoxo K.

Beautiful. I love the outside of your home. Your path gardens say keep walking up to the stairs.. .come sit a spell... lets talk... gives you a nice feeling of familiar comfort.

You live in a very lovely home... Will be looking forward to more pics...
ReplyDeleteYour home was in a magazine wasn't it. I have this one dog earred and remember it so. Just beatiful.
ReplyDeleteI would never have guessed that your house is new. You did a great job "disguising" that. Your property is lovely, and I agree the best thing about decorating is that we can change it up when we want, most of the time for just a few dollars and a can of paint...well, some muscle helps, too.

Thank you so much for posting pictures of your home - I knew it would be elegantly beautiful, and with lots of white! What a lovely setting for a lovely house that you've turned into a graceful home, to be lived in and enjoyed. Well done!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely room! I particularly love the last photo with the tables stacked on top of each other like shelving. At least that's what it looks like. Great idea!
ReplyDeleteYou have a beautiful home. Thanks for sharing your photos. There is so much I like about how you have decorated but my favorite has to be the stacked benches by the staircase. They work perfect there. Can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteLove the two benches in the last picture!
ReplyDeleteI love your home from the front yard to all the rooms you've shown.
ReplyDeleteWe purchased our home in 2006 new. I have only painted one room the kitchen because it's small (a walk through kitchen) but in the rest of my home I have added lots of color with the decor. But, now with my craft room about to be started I am going to paint. I am excited. I have some photos of my home at the very bottom of my blog. I wish we were on acreage but we are on almost 1 acre but in a subdivision. & so many new homes sitting empty it's very sad.
Thanks for sharing,
Linda
I love your home Kathleen. Those benches in the entry are sooo coool.

ReplyDeleteHi Kathleen,
ReplyDeleteEver since I saw your home a few years ago, I have been totally in love with it. It is amazing and wouldn't be as much if it weren't for your creativity and style. You have it by the boat loads. (Does that make sense?) Anyway, I was so sorry to miss your sale and I hope I get to come shop your space at Diane's sale coming up.
Hugs,
Lisa
Oh Kathleen, your home is my dream home! Everything is so beautiful, white really does go with everything, I am excited to be a part of White Wednesday tomorrow! The picture of your kitty sitting in the flowerpot is adorable, I can't wait to see more of your home!
ReplyDeleteKathleen, You are right, it definitely has the charm of an older home, but the airiness of a new open concept home. Your decor is very soothing and welcoming. I love it.
ReplyDeleteAdore the old benches stacked and the vingettes!
ReplyDeleteTell us about those please...where, when, how?
xo Roberta
You have done a lovely job with your home. We built a new house 8 yrs ago, and wanted it to look like a farm house with the wrap around porch.
ReplyDeleteIt is my favorite thing about the house..
Hello
ReplyDeleteEverything is lovely, I love the color palette and it does look old. One thing about decorating especially if you do it right away it will change. Funny but the rooms I waited on and took the longest to do-I haven't changed but the kitchen has been done quite a few times.
Thanks for sharing
Blessings
Rebecca
